A Trojan horse, is a program that appears to be legitimate , is a type of malware designed to provide unauthorized, remote access to a user’s computer.

Trojans are malicious programs that perform actions that have not been authorised by the user. These actions can include

- Deleting data

- Blocking data

- Modifying data

- Copying data

- Disrupting the performance of computers or computer networks

A Trojan Horse is an email virus usually released by an email attachment. If opened, it will scour your hard drive for any personal and financial information such as your social security, account, and PIN numbers. Once it has collected your info, it is sent to a thief’s database.

Unlike computer viruses and worms, Trojans are not able to self-replicate.

If you work on a computer regularly, then you might be aware about Trojan horse virus and its affect on your computer. It is a virus, which gets attached to some files in your computer and programs that you download from internet. The main characteristic of this virus is that once it gets a way into your computer it starts destroying the files secretly. However, once the Trojans wheeled the horse behind their closed gates and night fell, the soldiers hidden inside the horse climbed out and opened the city gates, allowing the Greek army to infiltrate Troy and capture the city.
